Policy Prospectus The name
of this organization shall be that United States of America Traditional Karate
Association (USA-TKA). The association exists to promote and practice the
traditional martial arts of Okinawa as founded by the forefathers to modern
karate. These primarily include Higaonna Kanryo and Itosu Anko. Formal studies
are taken from the founders of Goju Ryu Karate and Shito Ryu Karate. They are
Miyagi Chojun and Mabuni Kenwa. This organization will exist in the United
States to encourage training in the traditional manner of these great Masters of
the past.
The
USA-TKA will focus on the traditional kata of Okinawa without any changes. This
includes any techniques added or subtracted from the kata. The kata will be
performed in the purest form and taught in like manner. All bunkai
(applications) to these will be taught in their original intended manner
beginning with basic bunkai and as the level of the student progresses, into the
more advanced techniques. Extensive research will be continuous in order to
present the correct instruction of all the traditional kata and bunkai with the
understanding that some have been lost do to poor record keeping from the past.
This
organization will be open to all people who wish to align themselves or their
dojo (schools) with traditional studies of Okinawan martial arts. Acceptance
into the organization will be contingent upon signing the Association Agreement,
proper and current payment of association fees, and meeting with Sensei Nielsen
or one of his administrative designates.
Guidelines,
suggested curriculum, and rules of the association will be set forth by the
governing body with Sensei Nielsen having final approval and authority. All
material will be sent to all member dojo (schools) and disclosed in the fullest
detail.
Affiliation
certificates, rank certificates, sanctions, instructor certifications, seminars
and advanced Yundansha promotions will be conferred by the association and
Sensei Nielsen.
