This message is coming to you in the
middle of the month. I am sorry for the delay. With the power outage
that we incurred from the storm it has delayed this message. It is no
less important though.
I was recently told by a parent of a
child student that one of our adult student's visited another Dojo. This
parent stated that he knew the Sensei of this dojo very well since they
had grown up together. I was told by this parent that the Sensei from
this dojo was very impressed with my student who went to visit him. He
said that he was extremely respectful and followed all proper etiquette
required of traditional karate-ka.
I also know this other Sensei. I trained
with him back when I first started taking karate. He is my senior and
was a black belt when I was a white. He is extremely talented and knows
his Goju Ryu karate. Therefore I take him very seriously.
It is indeed a pleasure for any Sensei to
hear that their students are following what they are taught. Respect
goes a long way. It is the basis for good karate training. By practicing
it we can learn that it will indeed take us a long way in life. Look how
this message came back to me. It tells me that my students are following
the "way" correctly and this is a direct reflection on our dojo and on
what I teach.
I am indeed glad to see that Mr. Bob is
following the way. I hope that all of you do the same.
